Amazon FBA Claim Deadline Calculator

Turn Amazon's reimbursement claim windows into dates. Pick the case type, enter the date it happened, and see when you can file and the last day to file, with Amazon's own wording and source.

Use the date Amazon recorded the unit as lost or damaged in your inventory reports.

These are the windows Amazon announced for Amazon.com (US). If you sell on another marketplace, check its Seller Central for its own rules.

Enter the date to see your window.

Amazon's rules

Amazon's claim windows by case type

Most Amazon reimbursement claim windows are around 60 days, and the exact window depends on the case type. Here is each one in Amazon's own words, with its source.

Lost or damaged in a fulfillment center
“A fulfillment center operations claim for an item that is lost or damaged in the fulfillment center must be submitted no later than 60 days after the item was reported lost or damaged.” Source
FBA customer return
“An FBA customer returns claim can be submitted between 60-120 days after the customer refund or replacement date. Claims must not be submitted before 60 days to ensure the customer has time to return the item to us for processing.” Source
Removal shipment lost in transit
“A removal claim for items lost in transit can be submitted 15-75 days from the shipment-creation date. Claims must not be submitted before 15 days to ensure the shipment can be delivered back to you.” Source
Other removal claim
“All other removal claims must be filed within 60 days of the shipment being delivered back to you.” Source
FBA fee error, itemized (incorrect weight or dimensions)
“Requests must be submitted within 90 days of the disputed charge.” Source
FBA fee error, non-itemized (removal, destroy, prep and labeling fees)
“These follow an 18-month statute of limitations.” Source
Shipment to Amazon (inbound)
Not covered by Amazon's announcement of 23 October 2024, so no window is shown here. Check the shipment in Seller Central.

The method

How the dates are worked out

  • Every date is a calendar date, worked out in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
  • “Days after” counts the day after the date you enter as day 1, so 60 days after 1 March 2026 is 30 April 2026.
  • The last day to file is the date you enter plus the window's closing number, and it counts as inside the window.
  • A window that opens later, like customer returns or removals lost in transit, opens on the day its waiting period ends: Amazon says those claims must not be submitted before it.
  • Months are calendar months. If the same day does not exist in the final month, the last day is that month's last day, so 18 months after 31 August 2026 is 29 February 2028. Amazon's guide does not say what its 18 months run from, so the calculator counts them from the date of the charge.

Amazon publishes these windows and can change them. The dates here follow its announcements as of their dates, linked above.

Leviathan Recon

Where Leviathan Recon fits

Leviathan Recon rebuilds your unit ledger per FNSKU from reports you export yourself, flags the FNSKUs where Amazon's balance and yours disagree, and puts a claim deadline on each flagged row with a countdown, so you can see what to raise first. Those deadlines are working dates Recon sets, not Amazon's windows: check each one against Amazon's windows above. You raise each claim yourself in Seller Central.
